Brief

The city hotel Wilhelmshof in Vienna with 200 guest beds received a solar heating system as part of an expansion in 2008. The 156m² system is the second largest solar system on a hotel in Vienna.

Technology

Flat plate collectors placed on the building’s roof produce solar heat, supplying almost half of the large demand of hot water used for guests, the kitchen and the in-house laundry. The solar heat is stored in three storage tanks, each with a capacity of 2,000m³. A groundwater heat pump provides additional heating.

Financial Structure

The project was financed by the owner.
