Brief
The North Sports Centre in Salzburg is the first and so far only plus-energy sports centre in Austria, meeting the klimaaktiv gold standard. It is entirely heated by solar energy with active use of storage masses.
Technology
Solar thermal energy is produced by flat plate collectors placed on the sports centre’s roof, stored in the basement and ceilings and slowly released into the centre’s facilities. The solar thermal system comes with three 5,000m³ hot water tanks and building component activation. If there is a heat production surplus from the solar system in the summer, the bistro in the ASKÖ building next door is also supplied by solar heat.
Financial Structure
The project was financed by the owner.
