Brief
Jean Larnaudie, a leading French food company with a focus on meat products, is committed to decarbonising its industrial process heat as part of its corporate ESG goals. In their factory in Castelnau d’Auzan, duck meat is processed for various duck-based products, requiring a great deal of heat. TVP Solar installed a 540m2 solar field on the ground close to the plant’s boiler house to supply clean heat to the meat processing site.
Technology
High-vacuum flat plates manufactured by TVP Solar are used in this 0.315 MWth solar thermal installation. Solar heat preheats the boiler feedwater before it reaches the steam network, reaching an operating temperature of up to 155°C. The steam network then serves various applications within the factory: Sterilization, pasteurization, washing of production line, cooking.
Thanks to the integration of solar thermal in the factory’s process, natural gas now provides only latent heat to the site. In this way, 32,732m³ of natural gas and 65 tonnes of CO2 are saved every year.
