Brief

In Europe’s aging society, retirement homes are an important space for senior citizens to enjoy care and comfort. Similar to residential buildings, these kinds of amenities face several energy demands, among which hot water, space heating, and electricity. As part of their commitment to a sustainable future, Abora Solar partnered with a retirement home in Kungsbacka, Sweden, to meet their energy needs with a renewable and reliable solution.

Technology

This solar thermal installation consists of 126 hybrid PVT panels, combining photovoltaic and thermal solar energy to maximise the production of electricity and heat. It brings both environmental and economic benefits: Each year, 55,640 kg of CO2 emissions are saved, and by producing electricity and heat on-site the energy costs of the retirement home are reduced, allowing the savings to be reinvested in resident care and services.

Financial Structure

The payback period of this installation is 6 years.
