Brief
The new Swarco Raiders American football training centre was built in 2020. The sports facility, located south of the Tivoli Stadium in Innsbruck, with 700 covered grandstand seats, changing rooms and function rooms hosts many sports events through the year. For this reason, it needs showering around 100,000 times per year, requiring approximately 4 million litres of water at 40 degrees.
Technology
The hot water needs of the sports centre are met by flat plate collectors supplying 115 kW solar heat, a 25 kW PV system and two 82 kW and 60 kW heat pumps. A 5,000m³ storage tank for the low-temperature heat pump and a 10,000m³ hot water buffer storage tank serve as heat buffers. The sports centre’s solar system delivers a very high solar yield of over 600 kWh/m²a.
Financial Structure
The project was financed by the owner.
