Brief
In 2017, the hardware pick-up specialist store in Göllersdorf, Lower Austria, was expanded by an area of 400m². The owner, a professional builder specialised in innovative and energetically high-quality construction projects, incorporated his knowledge into the new building, supported by building services planner Harald Kuster. The building is heated and cooled exclusively by the sun.
Technology
Solar thermal energy is captured by flat plate collectors placed on the roof of the hardware store. The solar heat is stored by building component activation in the basement and the ceiling and slowly released into the room. The storage mass equals around 200m² of concrete. A 2,000m³ hot water tank and a 5,000m³ heating tank serve as additional buffers. In summer, the excess heat is used by an adsorption chiller for solar cooling of the building, with a 2,000m³ cold water tank.
Financial Structure
The project was financed by the owner.
