Brief

A family in Falkensee, Germany, started looking for a more sustainable and cost-efficient heating solution for their home when their old boiler started reaching the end of its life. They opted for a combination of PVT panels and a heat pump, which allows them to reduce their energy bills by 90%.

Technology

The 12 solar PVT panels, capable of producing both renewable heat and electricity with the sun’s free energy, were installed by Novatus on the carport of the single-family home. They are coupled with a water-to-water heat pump manufactured by Dualsun, which unlike traditional air-to-water heat pumps requires no outdoor unit, reducing noise and visual impact. With this combined installation, the family produces their own electricity and thermal energy for domestic hot water and space heating. As a result, both the family’s energy bill and emissions are significantly reduced.
