Brief
In Switzerland, a recent law foresees that all new buildings constructed from 2023 onwards must be carbon neutral. In the Swiss city of Délemont, an innovative installation combining different renewable energy sources to cover the energy demand of nine new apartment buildings was already kicked off in 2021, paving the way for best practices of zero-emission buildings in the residential sector.
Technology
The solar thermal technology used in this installation are 1,680 vacuum tube collectors manufactured by Naked Energy, which cover a roof area of 1,411m2. They are complemented by PV panels and ground source heat pumps, showing how different renewable technologies can work together to achieve carbon neutrality in buildings. In fact, a total of 23.74 tonnes of CO2 are saved every year thanks to this installation.
