30 years of existence

Introduction

Solar Heat Europe is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, marking an important milestone for the whole European solar thermal sector which has been contributing to a decarbonised energy sector for over three decades. Solar Heat Europe is the common place and the voice of the sector, promoting cooperation of its stakeholders and defending its interest in Brussels.

History and Milestones

2022

High-Level Policy Event

This event took place on June 20th and it brought together policymakers, partners, and representatives of the solar thermal sector, as well as the media. This event tackled the relevance of solar thermal in relation to the challenges of heat decarbonisation and the deployment of renewable solutions.

2022

This event showcased the potential, diversity, and latest developments of solar thermal technology through an exhibition of relevant materials and tools with a target audience of policymakers and other stakeholders of the sector. The exhibition was oganised jointly with the High-level Event.

2023

Gala Dinner

This event corresponds to an enlarged version of the official dinner gathering of Solar Heat Europe’s members before the General Assembly. The gala dinner included an Awards Ceremony, recognising some of the main actors in the sector and their achievements.

2024

Solar Heat Publication

The publication aims to pay tribute to the sector’s achievements, creating a record of the history of the technology in Europe, and bringing forward the sector’s ambitions for the decades to come. It will comprise the history of ESIF, ESTIF, and Solar Heat Europe, highlighting milestones and future vision.

2030

“Energising Europe with Solar Heat” is a call to action for the industry, policymakers, and other relevant stakeholders. The publication includes the sector’s contribution to the EU Solar Energy Strategy and its strategy for a fast deployment of solar thermal by 2030. The initiative is open to signatories.

2030

With the 30th anniversary campaign, we want to raise awareness about the potential of solar thermal and make well known the measures that are needed to promote its deployment. This campaign is running on social media and it will be complemented by collaboration with external media outlets.

TVP Solar is bringing solar thermal solutions to a whole new range of applications, such as industrial process, heat, district, heating, without compromising on efficiency and process integration and, most of all, at a comparable or lower cost than current fossil fuel prices. We are proud to be Gold Sponsors of this important celebration, the 30th anniversary of Solar Heat Europe. As an enthusiastic supporter of solar thermal, we believe that our sector as a whole can make a difference and accelerate dramatically the clean energy transition in Europe and globally.

About TVP Solar:

TVP Solar’s vision is the widespread adoption of high vacuum flat plate (HVFP) technology as the most efficient and viable solution for the process industry and district heating in Europe and globally. The last 14 years have been dedicated to developing and industrializing the solution.

The focus is now on de-risking it, to make HVFP thermal plants an investment grade energy asset, just as PV is on the market today. TVP Solar’s mission is threefold: Enable massive infrastructure funds deployment and generate stable cash-flows, provide a meaningful decarbonization impact and, above all, allow actual energy security by keeping heat cost low and stabilized for the long term.

Solar thermal is the key technology to generate local energy in the MW scale, providing a viable, flexible solution to energy players with urgency to decarbonize heat at temperatures below 180°C, which is the largest share of heat consumption. TVP Solar positions itself as a 360 degrees solution provider, from an innovative technology to project development from A to Z, from financing to execution, to support global adopters in their effort to reduce their environmental impact, reach their ESG goals and ensure their energy security.

Solar Heat Europe strives for the growth of solar heat solutions in Europe through different actions, such as advocating for better regulation or encouraging the EU policy makers to shape a fair context for heating and cooling solutions.

Heat is half of the energy we consume in Europe and its decarbonisation is crucial for EU’s carbon neutrality plans. Even if mentioned or acknowledged on some level, we strongly believe heat decarbonisation efforts are currently not enough and that the contribution of the solar thermal sector can be largely increased. As such, the European solar heat sector is ready to bring this topic in the spotlight during 2022, through the different activities planned for the 30th anniversary, as well as to showcase the potential of current available solutions like solar heat and to lead a faster transition for a more sustainable future.

Energizing Europe with Solar Heat – Solar Thermal Roadmap

The energy crisis and the war in Ukraine have shown Europe that a faster deployment of renewables is imperative for energy security and climate goals. The energy debate at the European and national levels is a lively one and #SolarHeat must be part of it.
