Heat accounts for 75% of energy needs in industrial applications, with half of those needs covering temperatures up to 400°C, reachable by solar thermal technologies. Solar Heat Europe, with the expertise of the members of its Large Scale Working Group, is keen to collaborate with various industry sectors through their EU and national industry associations to provide joint guidelines - targeted per industry sector- on how solar thermal technologies can help provide resilient, cost-efficient, reliable heat supply to their members.
A great precedent is set by the paper industry through Cepi, with whom we collaborated since 2021, leading to the joint launch of their Energy Efficiency toolkit at the end of 2023.
A joint Working Group between Cepi and Solar Heat Europe members has been set up and kick-started its first meeting on 26 February to provide joint technical guidelines for efficient and effective solar heat integration in the paper industry. This factsheet will be released at a congress organised by Cepi on 17 April 2024 in Brussels. This will include both non-concentrated and concentrated solar heat technologies. This joint Working Group, supported by AEE Intec, includes experts from both Solar Heat Europe membership and Cepi membership (both national associations and pulp and paper companies working on their decarbonisation strategies).
Exhibition opportunities have also been offered to Solar Heat Europe members for the 17 April. For any questions on this, please contact our Managing Director, Val├®rie S├®journ├®.
